Last night on May 7th, the Clifton Board of Adjustment unanimously voted to deny the proposed use variance for the storage facility. The More Than A Closet Coalition played a critical role in mobilizing the public, keeping the community informed, and maintaining a strong presence at every meeting.
"We’re very happy with the board’s decision," said Jasmine Moreano, City Green's Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement. "Thanks to the steadfast dedication of the Clifton community, and the thoughtful judgment by the board of adjustment, the use variance has not been granted. Our attorney and planner presented a legally-sound and compelling argument that the site was not a suitable use for the a storage facility and did not meet the criteria to grant a use variance and the board listened. This goes to show that it is possible to make positive impacts in your community and we hope that residents across New Jersey know that they have a voice in our their towns and cities are developed."
City Green plans to host an ice cream social in celebration and appreciation of the community's efforts. Please join us at the Farm Eco-Center on May 14th from 4-6pm for this event!
